The Internship Program

WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS?

The Next Step program offers a strategic approach to preparing a missionary candidate for full-time service on the mission field.

Here are a few steps that a participant in the program will take:

  • Prepare to raise funds by working from and serving in their sending church. This will allow the relationship between the sending church and missionary candidate to develop and allow the church leadership to evaluate the candidate’s readiness.
  • Attend a week of Camp BIMI at the headquarters of Baptist International Missions, Inc.
  • Meet with BIMI’s Africa Director in order to be approved for the Next Step Internship program and allow access to the ministry fund. This fund will cover the ministry expenses of the candidate while on the field and goes directly to the BIMI missionary with whom he is working.
  • Begin raising personal support for the 1-year program. This amount is to be determined by the missionary with whom he will work and covers basic living costs. It should not take more than 2 to 3 months to raise the support.
  • Upon raising support, the candidate will move to the field and immediately begin language acquisition and cultural training.
  • Experience real-life ministry with veteran missionaries through personal involvement in the various outreach programs of the church-plant.
  • Return to States upon completion of the program to give an update and begin process of raising full support.
