The story of Israel’s unbelief is integral to the gospel narrative. Intertwining the prophecies of the Old Testament, the Apostle Paul masterfully reveals the amazing plan of God to bless all nations through Christ, using the fall (unbelief) of Israel: “What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day” (Romans 11:7-8).

Many Jews failed to assemble the prophetic puzzle pieces of Christ’s suffering rightly and therefore were unable to recognize the signs and purpose of His first coming. The prophets spoke of the suffering of the Messiah as well as the salvation blessing that the Messiah would provide to all nations.
